About Switchboard

At Switchboard, we help teams transform their business operations through a combination of modern software, strong data integrations, AI automation, and workflow design, freeing them from the mundane.

As a growing, founder-led company, we're looking for teammates ready to help shape a future where work is more meaningful because teams can focus on what matters.

The Role

Are you the person who looks at a 50-step, manual process and thinks, “certainly this could be 5 steps, right?”

As a Business Systems Strategist, you'll transform how our clients work by uncovering hidden inefficiencies and designing systems that cut wasted time and unlock growth. You'll lead discovery sessions to map current chaos, then architect future-state workflows that executives can understand and our developers can effectively build.

Working alongside Project Managers and Automation Developers, you'll be technical enough to design systems that work, but business-savvy enough to sell the vision, without getting bogged down in the actual implementation.

What you'll do

  • Lead and communicate strategic discovery to surface bottlenecks, quantify impact, and understand priorities with client stakeholders from frontline staff to C-suite
  • Model current-state processes and data flows, then sketch future-state workflows that take advantage of better tools, data, and automation
  • Evaluate and select the right mix of SaaS, AI, and integration options, balancing speed, cost, and scalability for each client's unique context
  • Draft phased implementation roadmaps that guide our development teams and keep executives bought-in throughout the transformation
  • Translate technical trade-offs into clear narratives that move both CFOs and developers, without getting lost in jargon
  • Coach client stakeholders through change, building champions and addressing concerns as new systems roll out
  • Partner with our Automation Developers to validate designs, test edge cases, and ensure delivery hits the mark

What Success Looks Like

  • Technical teams respect your designs because they're grounded in reality and well-documented
  • Business leaders trust your judgment and cite your insights in their own presentations
  • Clients adopt your blueprint, see measurable gains, and come back asking "what else can we build together?"
  • Implementation runs on time and on budget because your workflows and requirements are clear and grounded.
  • Developers can understand and quote your data diagrams without rewriting them.
  • You become the go-to advisor executives invite into strategic discussions

Who we're looking for

  • 5+ years with a mix of technical consulting with hands-on process design for mid-market clients in consulting, agency, or internal transformation roles
  • Process design mastery: You can diagram complex workflows and spot bottlenecks quickly, whether using formal frameworks or digital whiteboards.
  • Systems thinking and data architecture: Comfortable with relational schemas, API patterns, and designing clean hand-offs between systems without getting lost in technical weeds
  • SaaS market fluency: You track the shifting landscape and know when to recommend existing tools versus custom builds across CRMs, ERPs, and automation platforms
  • Cross-industry experience showing you can learn new domains quickly and get to the heart of what matters: process, people, and tools
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills with proven ability to lead stakeholder interviews and earn trust up to the C-suite
  • Technical literacy around integrating tools and workflows and modern automation, with understanding of when to use no-code versus custom development
  • AI and automation expertise: You have the ability to identify practical AI applications and have built demos or use cases that helped non-technical leaders see the possibilities

Nice-to-Haves

  • Hands-on familiarity with popular no-code tools like Zapier, Airtable, or Make that our clients actually use
  • Familiar with mid-market CRMs and ERPs and general implementation & integration quirks
  • Understanding of how mid-market companies think about budgets, timelines, and resources when adopting new technology
  • Basic SQL or Python skills for quick data analysis or proof-of-concepting
  • Experience helping non-technical teams adopt new workflows without overwhelming them

What you'll get

  • Real impact: your strategies and architecture become the backbone of growing companies.
  • Strong team: no layers, rapid decisions, healthy support and collaboration.
  • Remote first: anywhere in North America with at least 3 PST overlap hours.
  • Culture: make others successful, keep learning, and turn business into a machine, not a grind.
  • Package: competitive pay, three weeks off to recharge, and a clear path to shape your role.
  • Remote flexibility across North America with a small, senior team
  • Growth opportunity: Shape your role in an exciting, evolving space at the intersection of business strategy and technology
  • Culture built on making others successful, learning every week, and turning business into a machine, not a grind
